I have been toying with the idea of putting Jude in his "big bed" for the past few days since he's starting to be able to rock the cradle when he startles. I finally broke down and did it last night in the hopes of starting a routine, especially since he has been able to put himself to sleep after I lay him down. If he is in his bed, we can actually get ready for bed also instead of waiting for him to do so. I, of course, was a little uneasy all night afraid something would happen to the monitor and I wouldn't hear him. Of course, nothing happened and he did fantastic. He put himself to sleep and didn't wake up until 2 then again at 5:45 (when I would already have to be up for work anyway). Now to get him to nap in his bed.....Daycare might hate me :(

I'm in trouble!
So I've figured out I have one sneaky, smart cookie on my hands! Jude does NOT like to be on his tummy for tummy time. He either screams or falls asleep.....or rolls over, yes rolls over, to get out of it. I reported in the last post that he started doing this at 3 weeks and 6 days and I have been trying ever since to get it on video to prove I didn't just dream it up and I wasn't "rigging him" to do it. I finally got it on video on our video camera, but haven't been able to download the videos to my computer. SO...I broke out my regular camera that has video on it to try to get it on there. This morning, Jude is 6 weeks and 6 days old. He has been very happy so we decided to try some more tummy time. I set up the camera in case he decided to perform and he did!!! He rolled over two times in a row, then got mad when he figured out we could just turn him back over.
Just for fun, here's a picture of Jude in his new froggy pajamas. I am not a fan of these logistically---changing a diaper is a PAIN in them. He does look really cute in them though :)

Mothers' Day Weekend
Mothers' Day weekend, Mamie and Dude had a free weekend so they decided to come over to Dallas to hang out. As a gift for my first mothers' day, Jude slept in his big bed and Mamie got up with him at night to allow Mommy TWO, count 'em, TWO, full nights of sleep. This mommy didn't know what to do with herself! On Saturday, we went to the Cottonwood Arts Festival, which was....interesting. Then we went to the Galleria to watch the ice skaters and get out of the house to somewhere that still had air conditioning. Jude wore his airplane outfit and had to take a picture with Dude...

On actual Mothers' Day, we went to lunch, but before we left, Jude showed Mamie and Dude his new trick. Last Sunday, I put Jude down for tummy time and he rolled over. I thought...surely I did not see that correctly! Surely, it had something to do with how I put him down there! He is way too young to be rolling over! Well, Thursday, I put him down for tummy time and ran to the bathroom. When I came back, he was on his back. I thought...Houdini baby!! Some ghost must have come and turned him over! I turned him back over making sure to put his legs flat and his arms above his head. Before I could get the video camera set up, he did it again. I was determined over the following days to get it on camera. All I got was either a screaming baby or a sleeping baby...no rolling over. Jude was trying to make his mama a liar! Well, Mothers' Day morning, I put Jude down for tummy time, again making sure to put his arms above his head and his legs out straight behind. With everyone watching....Jude rolled over. Mama isn't crazy (at least not about this)!!! We officially have a roller, starting at 3 weeks and 6 days. I will remain diligent to get this on video. In the meantime....pictures of Jude and his mama and Mamie for Mothers' Day....

Jude's First Bath
No we don't have the "dirty kid" who has never had a bath. Jude's umbilical cord was hanging on for dear life so he has only been able to have sponge baths. It FINALLY fell off yesterday morning and, might I add, is yet to be found..... Jude hated the sponge bath so we were very excited to finally get him in a real bath. He LOVED it! This makes bath time so much more fun...and he smells that much better after :)

Jude is One Month Old!
Jude had his one month doctor's appointment today. Yes....one month! He is getting so big and way too fast for me! To give you some perspective on how fast he is growing, Jude weighed 6 lbs 8 oz and was 20.5 inches the friday after he was born (April 8). Today Jude weighs 10 lbs 2 oz and is 22 inches. He is in the 50-75th percentile in all categories and is strong as can be! He was such a trooper when he had his shot today and only cried for a second. He has such a little personality in his facial expressions....
I asked Jude what he thought about going to see Dr. Tomecko today and this was his response...
"Jude, you are getting so big!" Response....
"Jude, Dr. Tomecko said you can't eat so much." Response....
