Easter

For Jude's first Easter, Mamie and Dude and Peppy and Nali came to Dallas. We enjoyed being at home for the weekend and being at our church even though we had to battle the "I only go to mass on Easter and Christmas" crowds. I especially enjoyed my few extra hours of sleep since Mamie took a night feeding with Jude. Jude looked precious, of course, in his little Easter outfit even though it was still a little too big for him. We came home from church and Mamie made us a fantastic Easter lunch of ham (well, the honeybaked ham co made that), asparagus casserole, and sweet potato casserole.

Jude's first plane ride with his Dude

On Jude's two week birthday, he took his first plane ride with his Dude to Monroe. We went to go have newborn pictures made by Ashley Isaac and he was so well behaved! I can't wait to see the results! He was also very well behaved on the plane and slept the whole time, even when things got a little bumpy.

While were were in Monroe, we took a trip over to Lake Providence so Jude could meet his great grandmother, "Naw".

Jude's first car ride

So we were a little concerned, or I was, about Jude liking to ride in the car since we will have a 30 minute commute to daycare/work. It turns out he LOVES to ride.

Even more than riding though, he likes to eat his straps...

Jude Michael arrives....on his own time

I mentioned in the last post that we went to choose the details of our new house on April 3 (it was actually April 2---I accidentally hit 3 instead of 2!). Well this happened to be just in time.....

The date of Jude's arrival was the topic of discussion several times when seeing my doctor. We had originally set the date of delivery for April 8. Well, my doctor ended up going out of the country for a wedding, so we decided to move the date up rather than move it to a later date because we wanted to have a bit more control considering I was required to take Lovenox shots throughout my pregnancy with Heparin shots twice a day closer to delivery. Because these shots needed to be timed correctly prior to delivery, my doctor suggested April 3. April 3 is Scott Michael's mom's birthday and we really wanted Jude to have his own day. We agreed to deliver any other day besides April 3. We decided on April 1, then ended up moving back to April 8 to allow for further development of Jude's lungs and my doctor's partner would deliver him. WELL.....Sunday night, APRIL 3, at 8:30, my water broke. Scott Michael told me later than while I'm jumping up, yelling that my water broke, and running to tile floor, his first thought was that we had left something in the washing machine and it was going to mildew. I'm really not sure where that came from, but I thought that was pretty funny! We got to the hospital and we ended up holding Jude off until April 4......so he has his own day :)

Jude Michael was born at 12:51 A.M. on April 4, 2011. He weighed 7 lb 3 oz and was 20.5 inches long. He is the greatest gift I've ever been given and even though I can't believe he's already 3 weeks old, I can't remember what life was like without him.

A review of the recent changes in our lives....

I have been going back and forth for quite some time about starting a blog for our family. I have enjoyed being able to follow the lives of friends that live far away on their blogs but was afraid I would be horrible at keeping it updated. Well, I decided to give it a shot.

Scott and I have experienced so many changes in the last year. In June of last year, I finally graduated and started a post doctoral fellowship at a private practice in Southlake. It has been an amazing experience and I could not be in a better place. The staff I work with is incredibly supportive and so close--a rarity in a work setting. Scott is still with Hensel Phelps but is now a field engineer. He seems to really enjoy his work and gets so excited about his cranes ( lol) but definitely works long hours and comes home very dirty!

Recently we found a new neighborhood going up in Lewisville, TX and decided instead of continuing to look for a new home we would build. We went on April 3, to choose the details of our house: brick, tile, granite, etc. We reviewed our blue prints yesterday and our house should start going up in the next few weeks! We are so excited to finally be so close to having our own home and being out of an apartment.
